I'm still learning about my sensitivities. Inspired by this post, I've been trying to understand my own experiences.
When I think of the 5 basic senses (hearing, touch, taste, sight, and smell), my own sensitivity is affected by these 5 senses, but it is different.
I am sensitive to energies, for lack of a better understanding. But I can't see energy like some people see auras and chakras.
I might also call it an emotional sensitivity, but that doesn't fully describe it. I am definitely sensitive to others' suffering and pain; it instinctively stirs something within me that aches in my mind, body and spirit.
I am sensitive to what I call chaotic energy: lots of energies swirling around. For example, lots of people talking at once, whether there is disagreement or just simply lots of conversations at once. Underneath those voices, there is a lot of energy being exchanged, and though I can't see the energies themselves, I sense them.
Likewise, I'm sensitive to loud noises and lots of noises simultaneously (hyperacusis). I use accommodations so that I'm not overloaded and become unbalanced.
There isn't a single, simple term that I can use to describe my sensitivities. Thus, it remains somewhat elusive and mysterious to me.
How about others? How might you describe your unique sensitivities?
