Are we as a species, ready to have the full scope of historical and current ET / Human interaction suddenly revealed to us?

I think people are far more resiliant than they are given credit for, if people can adapt to wars, famine, poverty, genocide, slavery...then surely they can handle 'the truth'. I think the belief that it would be destructive is part of the social engineering project of maintaining control, preserving the illusion. Maybe there is a higher spiritual/karmic reason for this, but the ones who project the message that secrets are necessary are the ones who have the most to lose, and the ones who agree with it most likely do so out of fear. Ignorance isn't strength.

Revolution does come at a short term price, but the long term gain is evolution. To me the only question is, how quickly can you rip off the band-aid without excessively traumatizing the wound.
