Why do you believe in the Ra material?

Am I the only one beginning to find this ridiculous? I mean, aliens? I feel like if there was extraterrestrial life, we'd have seen it by now. But instead we're going to take the word from something who no one can prove exists. We're just supposed take the word from some broad who wrote some dialogue. Do you guys realize that is exactly how movies and plays are written?
