And yeah, all of this was definitely sketchy. Another detail was Kile mentioned putting up the signs, and she said very over incredulously, "OH, YOU DID??" We had suspected someone took our sign down near the mailboxes after it had been up a couple of days. But, that would have been extremely weird, and it was like 40+mph winds so I just assumed it got blown away. But now we think she just took it down (a courtesy call to say "Yes that's my dog and I don't want it anymore" 2 weeks ago would have been nice)
And Kile totally thinks the name Crystal is irritating, too. So we're keeping Judy. She's definitely starting to respond to it, and make eye contact with us when we call her it, and I can't imagine trying to change her name again after we've been doing all this time trying not to call her Dexter/Doodle.
