Questioner--- there were no back plates on the harddrives, cables were all loose. It was very dry and the carpet was a giant conductor pad. I even tried wearing rubber soled shoes with no avail. Now that I think of it, my electrician friend had said to me at the time that none of it was properly grounded. He suggested that I install a grounding wire. When I brought it up at a "team meetings" (pardon while I retch). They all laughed at me and said I was over reacting. I wonder if anyone did get electrocuted there... I left that job and happily to go.
I do fine on lap tops its just networked computers with monitors and large harddrives that I give problems too... I am not the only one though. Where my hubby works they gave his this electromagnetic test and then handed him a rubber mat to stand on saying he would short the equipement out... I do think it is rather common among high frequency people.
