When they say they will meet with us, they mean in the metaphysical sense, and yes they do, any time one asks them to do so. I quite often have their help, and they do provide it instantaneously at times, other times in meditation or in working with the higher self/ totality to provide the desire or understanding in dreams. Personal point to note is that because I had a strong will and desire to meet the Buddha personally, and asked, I was during meditation moved through time/space to where Buddha may currently reside and was met by him.
