In some shamanic cultures this technique (reality creation) is called shape shifting. Shape shifting involves giving up your resistance towards something and merging with it so that you totally become it--on not only a mental level, but on a whole-body and cellular level. The secret to this lies not in becoming something, but realizing you are already everything and have only to be one aspect of that. Some shamans practiced shape shifting to become trees or animals. They were willing to give up their armored selves and fully unite with something. It involves giving up the belief that "it's only imagination," a belief that separates you from the effectiveness of the technique.
