Going vegetarian was easy for me. Going vegan was harder because I erroneously thought dairy was just a 'byproduct' of the meat industry, and cheese was a comfort food, so I didn't have enough incentive to let it go. Plus, I was never grossed out by cheese the way I was/am by meat.
It was my friend Pablisimo who pointed out the addictive nature of cheese, plus opening my eyes to the ways in which the dairy industry feeds the meat industry, that prompted me to make the commitment to vegan.
