The exceptions are those uninspired and crude-looking formations that are usually accompanied by their boastful human creators' self-promotions and ego-stroking.
There is actually quite a tourist industry that has cropped up (no pun intended) around these circles.
Any you can't always tell from afar whether they are legitimate or man-made.
I spent about 2 hours in this formation, poking about, and came to the conclusion that it was man-made (even though precise and painstaking):
We also visited this one, which while simple, contained the "bent nodes" and interiors swirls, and was clearly legitimate:
That second one was set on the landscape in such a way that the views of the surrounding countryside were beautiful and compelling. Inside the formation itself, I felt intense serenity, contentment, and completion; I wanted to lie down there and rest forever.
