In my experience, acceptance of self usually preceeded by acceptance of others. I am able to accept in others, those aspect of self that I have sufficiently integrated. If I am having issues accepting other self then that is an indication of work to be done. That's why it's important to have relationships as Ra mentioned bc mirror (other-self) provides feedback. Yeah so accepting other-self may be inclusive in the process of full acceptance of self. I look at the degree of integration of that aspect of self that I see mirrored in other-self.
Added: was just listening to a talk about self-deception in seeking and it's really interesting. Made me think that it's possible to be under the impression that one accepts self yet have capacity to control and reject other self. This is the function of the shadow (the aspect of self that we want to deny or ignore) which has not been made conscious. Perhaps there is some level of acceptance yet bc self is not aware of what is operating very subtly from unconscious mind, there may be tendency to believe self is accepting-self, 'loving self'. Therefore honesty and self-awareness are key.
