. I used a 5 dollar mic from radio shack and a free program called "Audacity" to record (which has some cheapo effects on it that i used to add some reverb). Glad with the sound considering the tools. If you're gonna dust off your guitar and record stuff, just a heads up that Audacity only lets you save your tracks as .wav files. You'll need a wav-to-mp3 program if you want to save any work as mp3's. Word.
