I have always wondered how this passage worked in practice:

Quote:47.9 The disciplined personality, when faced with an other-self, has all centers balanced according to its unique balance.

Thusly the other-self looks in a mirror seeing itself.

what would such an interaction look like?

I think, much like a physical mirror, the mirror of the 'balanced personlity' will reveal to the other-self the kind of output they are putting out.

for eg, if the other-self is being angry and frustrated, the balanced personality will reflect back some of this energy, but without any sense of judgement or regret. Much like a physical mirror, that balanced individual would not be swayed or overcome by what the other person is putting out (their own internal balances are unmoved by distorted energies), but they are also not ignoring or bypassing the situation.

and much like a physical mirror, this 'reflection' back to you can be very useful in seeing the 'self'. It shows us the areas in which we are balanced ourselves, but also those areas which are in need of some work (some smudges on the face for example).

if you hang around blocked people you will see your own 'projections' and can work on those. If you hang around 'clear people' you can also see your blockages, but it will be revealed in a less harsh way.

being around 'clear people' you will see your own blockages with less resistance.

but the feedback is available either way. It's up to us to take responsibility for what we see and how we react to others.

    peace, and namaste,
