Sotos Syndrome? So does this mean that you are seeing them as syndromic? There is alot to be said about seeing that which you are seeing. Are you well informed concerning this challenge? Have you researched what other parent's who have children with these symptoms are saying... have you heard and learned from their stories? Are you aware of the foundations and forums for infor and story sharing concerning this challenge you and your children are experiencing? Are you learning how to teach/learn? Learning to teach is a skill that I have found to be of utmost assistance for me and my child. As well as compassionate communication. --- have you learned alternative forms of communication such as sign language, cued speech or observed the language of your child and began to decode it... Are you aware of Language boards? Occupational Therapy? Montessori Method? Learn to Teach--- and Learn to Learn.
I refused to see my child as "autistic spectrum." I told the Drs that was their words and not mine. I simply saw him as adapting to his enviornment in the best the way that he was able to... my job was to learn his language and teach him mine... to bring forth the best from him and allow him to bring forth the best from me. This is not always easy... I was called that crazy mother by many of a teacher and dr (they did not "believe" my "unproven" observations. I told one of them to go ahead and prove holding a lite lighter to their hand would burn their flesh because their "observation" was "unproven." They called me crazy!
I also began to observe. Observe. I observed him after eating... is there a place I can improve his life? Is there a connection between his adaptablity and food? Pollutants (enviromental, energetic, emotional, mental?) Is there a link between my interaction with him and his behavior? I observed his keen interest in knowing more about stuff... So I provided a rich learning environment for him to explore... he put everything in his mouth... So I adapted and made sure we were always in a clean enviroment...
I learned about Chelation... and did a natural chelation... This greatly improved life for him dramatically. Now everyone seems to know that with "autistic spectrum" disorder that there is a connection between food and behavior, polluntants and behavior, vaccinations and behavior and cognition... etc. The "You are what you eat" phrase of our Great Grandmothers time is in fact "being proven true by scientific methods." Science it seems lacks any common sense--- science seeks to label and limit in the name of empiricle data. I put very little stock in science and more stock in observation... observation is adaptable and flexible and changeable as more information is taken in... It seeks not to proclaim the truth but to learn as the truth is revealed... and as it is always with these Earth based truths... the truth is the truth until it is not the truth anymore.
So through my efforts of observation and adaption... I grew and he grew... we grew together and in that growth therein was the healing.
Our children will always need us... it is the job of the parent to be available in the time of query and need for the opportunity to teach/learn and learn/teach...
