Good catch on that one. It's true. I've seen many presentations on space and very frequently they'll use fear based words as you noticed. That's probably the result of trying to create a drama for the audience, which I suppose is pretty reasonable. But there is an underlying truth that people are afraid of space to some degree. As a society we tend to fear things that we have no control over, and the sheer size of what's out there doesn't make it any easier. Black holes, in fact, are probably feared more than anything else. A massive, seemingly mindless, seemingly ruthless patch of pitch black invisibleness that seemingly seeks to destroy anything and everything. I guess that fits the description of a lot of fairy tale monsters, eh?
It would be refreshing to see this documentary re-written with a positive slant. "...Out in the far reaches of space, a miracle happens every second. Massive dark patches that we don't completely understand seem to be giving birth to the very elements that are required for planets, stars, galaxies and even people to exist. To what honor do we owe these life creating dark angels?"
