Besides being an over-the-top computer generated special FX workout, what sort of subconscious messages do you suppose a film like this sends to the public at large regarding 2012?

I'll naively venture: hope, compassion and faith in the future? Although maybe they should have used more happy thoughts and fewer exploding cities.

As symbolism goes, a crack appearing between the hand of God and the hand of man is quite a symbol. The vatican crumbling is a certain message. John F. Kennedi getting thrown unto the shore was rather tasteless. Or was that supposed to be getting thrown into the whitehouse?

And the bible quote on the 2 of 2012. "And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue apocalypse." revelation 16:16... Though they changed the original biblical armageddon into apocalypse...

Interestingly enough apocalypse means destruction of earth from above. Armageddon means the battle at megiddo... Megiddo was a place of ancient battle, and dr Pentecost suggested it to be the site of the final battle between good and evil. Presumably Islam and the judeo christian alliance. We've probably all heard that there is a group who believes they can make the end of times come true by reenacting parts of the bible.

Well guess who is sending us that movie. Classy, flicking Kennedy in the process.

Now why would they change it from armageddon to apocalypse? I doubt it to be artistic license.

Granted, I have not yet seen the movie, but based on the trailer, I think it is a classic example of STS fearmongering. The trailer doesn't show much in the way of redeeming value!

While there are lots of disaster flicks out there, I find this one especially reprehensible because of its admonition at the end to google 2012, in which case many people will do so and then think, "Oh wow, there really is something to this 2012 stuff" and that of course might generate a lot of fear for them.

So, what I see happening is this movie generating a lot of fear, right at a time when we need to be focused on spreading love/peace/hope around the planet.

We here at B4 already know that the worst of the predicted disasters have already been averted. Q'uo has stated that, at the time of the Law of One channeling sessions, a sudden pole shift was a probability, but, since then, because of the amount of LOVE permeating our planet, we avoided that probability. Q'uo has stated very clearly that the pole shift has already been taking place, but gradually, in incremental steps, so that we have averted massive catastrophes like that depicted in this movie. If I remember correctly, the pole shift is nearly complete! So, while we might still have some isolated pockets of disastrous events, we just aren't destined for the wide-scale catastrophes like those that were predicted. This is great news! But movies like this can be very damaging to those who don't have the benefit of knowing what we know.

Thumbs down. Those movie producers aren't getting any of my $$!

I personally don't subscribe to biblical prophecy, and I find those groups who are trying to orchestrate events to artificially bring about armageddon to be essentially STS-based...manipulation of world events, creating chaos and violence, all to fulfill some prophecy from an ancient book? That is imposing their beliefs onto others, big time! What about those who don't believe in their prophecies? And how are these prophecies any different from, say, the latest New Age guru predicting a certain event on a certain date?

They're all just possibilities in the possibility/probability vortex, after all. And I tend to disregard those that are fear-based.

Actually, I don't think it's slivers of gold, it's gang turf tagging. That reference to Kennedy really says it all. And the Vatican crumbling is a direct threat. This is in the style of european gothic imagery.

There's a beautiful statue with a lion crushing a dragon.. How quaint. But it simply means england will crush France. A kind of threat.. St. Michaels dragon adventures? Celebrations of defeating France, not religious imagery.

I don't subscribe to these ideas either. A little over 10 years ago I believed this was pretty much what was going to happen. I know the mindset, I know the related prophecies and references. This movie is from that angle.. And I guarantee there are people attempting to make this come true.

And yeah... They have already failed. We've stepped into another timeline around 2000. And probably a few more time since then. Things started to change around that time. From what I hear mankind took an unexpected evolutionary jump.

The script for this movie was ready around 2008. Before the south Ossetian crisis. Which according to some was the breaking point for this armageddon scenario. Israel is still trying to pull Iran into a conflict, but with America's new found more muslim friendly voice they're going to find it much harder to get anyone to respond.

So we seem to have left this timeline, just like Quo stated. I didn't know he stated this... But I very much felt the same since around 2000. When all is said and done, we'll have tons of apocalyptic prophecies and literature. And we'll all be sipping margarita's on some Mexican beach. only nipping off for lunch in Paris.

All will be fine, there will be no armageddons or apocalypses.

However, the people making this movie certainly believe they will have their precious armageddon.

Hi Monica,

I think you may be overlooking the benefits of fear as a catalyst to wake people up. I know one of my reasons for rekindling my spiritual path that eventually led me here was a feeling that 9/11 was like a bell striking three quarters of an hour before midnight. It got me thinking and feeling and following my intuition once again. It was that re-awakening that ultimately lead me to this site and my deeper understanding of life, the universe and everything that has come with it.

So will this movie create fear in some people? Yes, but only in those to whom the message resonates. In short, those that still have a chance to polarize sufficiently to be harvestable, if they can first just wake up. For those to whom it doesn't resonate, this is just another disaster flick. The nice thing about a movie as a catalyst (as opposed to, say a terrorist attack or a war in the Middle East) is that no one really has to die.

Will the movie create some fear to help feed those STS souls that thrive on it along the way? Probably. But if it help just one more person wake up and be harvested, then it was well worth it, right?

Just like in physics, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Nothing in this world is purely STO or STS, the net effect of any action is always waves of both that bounce back and forth and off each other as they interact with the complex web of energy we call this planet and its inhabitants. Overall, I think it looks like a fun action flick. I'll go see it, and then take advantage for the opportunities it will lend me to talk about 2012 and other end-time traditions with some of my family and friends that approach me about it. Overall though, I don't see this movie as a particularly efficient means of either creating catalyst or fear-mongering, but hey I'm willing to give it a try.

Its just a movie. Treat it as entertainment and retain your sense of self whether you agree with the premise of the movie or not. Much like War of the Worlds, The Day the Earth Stood Still and Knowing. All were okay movies...worth a bowl of popcorn and a soft drink. But nothing worth pondering over after they were finished…well..except that one scene in knowing…where Nicholas Cage saw the ship that explained what Ezekiel was trying to describe. That was a great concept on the movie’s part.

I actually really enjoyed Knowing. At a glance it seems fearful but actually makes some very non-fear based statements. Not to mention being a fun, action packed popcorn flick.

I especially enjoyed the spoof that Lavazza posted, it really highlighted the absurd, over-the-top "disaster porn" aspect to the movie. The guys who made the film aren't our friends I think... However, your argument that it's gone in ten years from obscure to mainstream is as true as it is amazing.

Ah, The Shamen, this was actually slightly before my time and hence I always found it a bit too cheezy/oldschool-sounding for my taste... I really started paying attention to techno in the mid-late '90s... I preferred McKenna's performance with Space Time Continuum, "Alien Dreamtime"!

"New" information to school the "masses" are often released in movies put into terms the unschooled mind and heart can handle... it is a process of knowing your audience... and to create a need to learn more... a seeking is then instilled which will lead them to learning that which is on the tips of their tongues and in the back of their minds... and in their dreams... the Law of One... just as the secret had schooled many of the diseffected masses (myself included) concerning abundance and the Law of Attraction so shall this silly movie... it is Silly of course because we already know that all will be well and all is One... but so many do not.
