To me, Ra seemed to bless the American experiment, the ideals of the founders, and the idea of participating in the political process when they mentioned that Thomas (Jefferson) and Benjamin (Franklin) were wanderers.

Ra also mentioned the possibility of invasion by fascist or communist forces, suggesting, perhaps, that we are not yet in either of those camps.

Is this what you are talking about:
    65.7
"The ideal of freedom from the so-called invading force of either the controlled fascism or the equally controlled social common ownership of all things would stimulate great quantities of contemplation upon the great polarization implicit in the contrast between freedom and control."

That is another Ra quotes that seems to have gotten stuck in my mind. I believe we are in this struggle or contemplation NOW. There are Fascist and/or Socialist forces that want to control the people. And there are some people who are using this opportunity to chose freedom.

And in many situaions they really have no good choices and then they have to turn inwards and find the love and freedom inside.

I think this is really what I was getting at to start with. The Glenn Beck guy - shouting "Remember who we are". He may or may not actually mean anything about LOO but I think the effect may be a lot of people doing some serious soul searching.

This thread is going someplace Smile

This is the experience I have been having past year or so. I look at the world, my immediate world and my surroundings and find myself so limited and constraint to help. I wish I could change things and make these people realize but I don't want to force my views on them at the same time. So there is/was a feeling of helplessness. And my higher self (God bless their heart) have been taking me to the places where these feeling were more vivid and enhanced.

But now I am settling into a place of 'Trust' realizing that everything is what it is supposed to be. The only thing we can control is ourselves...There is less helplessness and more resting in peace with that thought...

Yes, that's the one about fascism/communism. Here's one about the wanderers of Jefferson and Franklin's era: "The Wanderers which came among you began to make themselves felt at approximately this time, firstly offering ideas or thoughts containing the distortion of free will." (26.12)

I completely agree with you that many people are looking inside for freedom now and that the outside choices seem to be limited.

I think it's legitimate to look to the Declaration, the Constitution, the speeches, letters, and essays of the founders for inspiration and for techniques for re-instituting liberty. Ra said that our social complex was somewhat negative; I'm guessing that since 1981 it has become more so, in some ways at least. However, Jefferson, Franklin, et. al. were also dealing with corruption and with powerful self-interested forces. Their methods (checks and balances, etc.) were fairly sophisticated and their ideals still ring true, to me at least.

The ideals of freedom support the opportunity to make choices, you can for instance choose to serve by feeding the poor ...
the way things are changing you will loose that free choice, the gov will force you to do it with taxes, likely leaving nothing to give freely. To me thats oppression. Now it may not 'cost' us in terms of gaining negative but it certainly feeds the negative of the oppressors and reduces the opportunity to gain positive.
