i just bought this juicer in macys for 132 bucks. its powerful it got good reviews. i am not investing 2400 dollars in a juicer this serves my purposes find and seems to be a very good bang for the buck.

I was thinking about buying a juicer and then heard about the NutriBullet. I do it every day and its been a part of a systematic revolution in my life and holistic health. I may still get a juicer in the future so I can make fun juices.

The video is cheesy but super legit.

ANY juicer can be beneficial!

Having said that, I will share what I've learned, after 30 years of juicing, for the benefit of those who might still be shopping around.

I gladly paid top price for my water ionizer, because there truly IS a difference in the water produced by different machines. So when I was in the market for a new juicer last year, I was willing to do the same for my juicer, if I found a reason to do so.

But, after actually being willing to dish out the bucks for the most expensive juice - the Norwalk - I chose to get an inexpensive Omega ($259) instead. Why? Because I became convinced that the Omega was actually better!

Better in what way? Quality of juice - less oxidation.

The Norwalk is, hands down, the 'best' in terms of squeezing out every last drop of juice. Over time, long-term, the Norwalk will yield much more juice out of those fruits and veggies. And it is certainly a fine piece of equipment, and will last a lifetime. There is no question that the Norwalk is the most efficient.

BUT, my objective wasn't efficiency. My main criteria was retention of nutrients and life force.

I'd had an Acme centrifugal for 25 years that held up great. I finally gave it away and got a new Omega, also centrifugal. I'd only had it a year or so when it was brought to my attention that centrifugals oxidize the juice. That's why the juice has to be drunk within 20 minutes or it will turn brown.

I refuse to drink oxidizing water, so why would I want to drink oxidizing juice?

Thus, my main objective was to find the juicer that oxidized the juice the least. That turned out to be any of the masticating-style juicers. The centrifugals all oxidize the most, because of the high speed. You can tell this by looking at the chart on the link posted above - it shows the RPMs (speed at which the juice is extracted). The higher the RPM, the more oxidizing the juice will be!

The Norwalk actually has a very high RPM, so to me, it isn't the best, even though it's the most expensive.

There are several masticating juicers that all produce top quality, fresh juice. I chose the Omega masticating style, single auger, because speed wasn't a top priority to me. Double auger masticating juicers can produce the same quality of juice as the single auger styles; the only difference is that you can put in bigger pieces, like a really fat carrot, without having to slice it thinner.

I decided it wasn't worth it to me to pay double, just to avoid cutting up my carrots, so I went with the single auger.

I watched the videos and read lots of reviews. Some of the masticating juicers, like the Green Star, are excellent, but they're more hassle to clean. I ended up choosing the Omega because it's easy to clean, + I had experience with the brand so I knew it was good quality, + it had a whopping 15 year warranty!

Again, any juicer is better than no juicer! Even the centrifugals are fine - you just have to make sure you drink the juice quickly before it turns brown. I do have to say, though, that the difference in taste with my Omega masticating, compared to my old Omega centrifugal, is profound! Same brand, different style of juice extraction. The centrifugal's juice turned brown very fast, while the juice from the masticating style can stay fresh in the frig ALL DAY! No kidding!

Not only that, but even comparing the juice immediately fresh from the juicer, the juice from the masticating tastes MUCH better! It's richer and...I don't know how to describe it...it just tastes waaaay better!

I never understood what the difference was before, even though I've been juicing for 30 years. All those years, drinking from the Acme centrifugal...Ah, I sure wish I'd known this before!

So if the juice tastes better, it has a better chance of being drunk. And there is no question that the juice from a masticating juicer has more nutrients, fresh, still in their antioxidant state.

They have videos showing different juicers side-by-side. Some are better for greens, while others are better for soft fruits. So it's important to decide what you plan to do with your juicer. All juicers can juice both veggies and fruits, but some are better than others, depending on what you're juicing.

I have the Omega 8005. It's a horizontal style masticating, best for greens and veggies. I can throw in juicy tomatoes just fine, but it has to be along with harder veggies like carrots. I don't juice fruit much. Those who juice more fruit might prefer the vertical style Omega masticating juicer.

I know someone with a NutriBullet. It's basically a portable high-powered blender, like a mini-VitaMix. It's a great little machine! (Though not in the same league as a VitaMix, which is bigger and more powerful.)

I have both a juicer and a VitaMix. It would be really hard to pick just one. I use both every day. They have different functions.

thanks for the info monica very helpful. i just juiced carrot apple celery kale very tasty. this juicer and the vitamix are going to get a lot of use this spring and summer for sure.
