A recently discovered type of immune cell, known as innate lymphoid cells, seem to be unregulated in part by the proteins found in leafy greens. ILC's are responsible, among other things, for healing small cuts and abrasions in the intestinal lining as well as targeting specific species of pathogens. They may also play a role in food allergies.
So if you have food allergies, eat some leafy greens! Even if it doesn't help via production of ILC's, leafy greens are great for other reasons.
