I recommend adding all the normal chat commands such as /ignore /mute /unmute and so on to the chat. While at it normal IRC commands should also be added as needed.

If this is too difficult to do to the forum code then please ignore, but if its possible it would be helpful Smile

I would definitely like to see the chatroom AUDIO ALERTS default to Silent.

it's easy to mute your pc, but its also nice to be able to play youtubes in the background or whatnot without having to reset the settings everytime you enter the chatroom.

    Hi, chat fans, and admins?

What about to be able to log-in, being invisible,
and being able to decide to "really" go in or not ?

Thanks for your good care !
    Blue skies.

You could see who is chatting by going to your dashboard and clicking the number on the 'Chat Room Status.' But you want to see what people are talking about? There's no problem in just 'lurking' or doing the 'swinging door' maneuver!

What is a swinging door maneuver, Rie?

I, personally, don't need to be invisible. But I agree with plenum that the chime alert thingy is terribly annoying at times. But then, I don't chat very often, so I can deal with it whatever happens.

'swinging door': to go in and out of chat quickly, just to check who's in there and to decide whether person wants to join, etc.

To cut off sound permanently go to Settings>>> click white button on Message, Online, and Topic and then press Submit. Learned that from Spaced, dunno how he figured it out but it's great!

Got it! I just go to the home page and see who is there. Wouldn't want to stir up a breeze in the chat room. BigSmile

Thank you rie & Spaced for the sound elimination instructions. Is this a permanent fix? Or do I have to reset it each time I enter the chat room?

Yeah..for those who don't know, click on the home icon, and then you can click on the number displaying how many people are in the chat room and it tells you who's in there.

cool feature Ruth and Icaro. If they could integrate that into the forums page, that would be really handy!

I emailed Steve about this change, and he said it would be doable, but time-consuming and a bit of a hack to the forum software.

so the answer is no at the moment Smile
