Let's take a look at polarity, as a numbers game. So treat it like 'stats' in an RPG (role-playing game).
In RPG's, you have things like Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom, Constitution, etc. Classic Dungeons and Dragons attributes.
So let's do a hypothetical on what Ra offered us regards polarity. Namely, positive charge, and negative charge. As applied to the 7 energy centres.
Rule 1: root chakra isn't polarized. It's open/closed to relative degree to new experience. Both polarities have a vested interest in active and vital red-ray, but it's not polarized in this area as such.
Rule 2: negative polarity uses red/orange/yellow to open the gateway (indigo). ("The negative ray pattern is the red/orange/yellow moving directly to the blue [indigo?], this being only used in order to contact intelligent infinity.")
Rule 3: positive polarity uses an even mix (from red through to blue) to also open the same gateway. ("In positively oriented entities the configuration is even, crystallinely clear, and of the seven ray description.)
Rule 4: chakras 2-6 can be polarized (positive or negative, or deactivated, if not used, as for negative entities regards the heart and throat).
Rule 5: opening the gateway represents the goal of this game, as it means building enough 'charge' (polarity) to do the work in the next level of the game (4d). Opening the gateway is hitting the level cap of 3d, and let's you move onto the next phase.

Negative Polarity
red ray: open
orange ray: 95% negative polarization
yellow ray: 95% negative polarization
green ray: deactivated
blue ray: deactivated
indigo ray: gateway opened
total Polarized Charge (energy): 95 + 95 = 190 XP - LEVEL UP!!
Positive Polarity:
red ray: open
orange ray: 51% positive polarization
yellow ray: 51% positive polarization
green ray: 51% positive polarization
blue ray: 51% positive polarization
indigo ray: gateway opened
total Polarized Charge (energy): 51 + 51 + 51 + 51 = 204 XP - LEVEL UP!!
