the term praying carries with it much baggage from the right hand path.
When those of the left hand path of higher understanding pray, they should do so knowing what they pray to. They are no longer praying apathetically to tradition they are not even really learned about. They are speaking to things that they have sought after and studied curiously with devout concern for truth and full awareness.
if they pray to a specific name or entity they should know exactly what that entity means to them and why they have chosen it to relate to.
In a sense praying should really be nothing more than speaking your thoughts and desires out into the creation. Hopes for peace and stability in a chaotic universe are not senseless because of the state of chaos. They are simply hopes that chaos can be stayed or at least decreased.
the lessons chaos might bring us does not mean that we cannot hope to rise above the chaos or that some day chaos will be tamed.
the same can be said for peace and harmony. these should be goals, not thought of wild goose chases not worthy of our interest.
Pray what you will, but know what you pray.
