I found a great series of lectures on Netflix by Joseph Campbell. Just look his name up, and several titles should come up.

If you have "Watch Instantly"..be mindful that Mythos I is broken into two parts, each with their own 5 individual videos running an hour each.

"Shortly before his death in 1987, mythology scholar Joseph Campbell embarked on a lecture tour that served as a summation of his life's work. This engaging series is an in-depth primer into mankind's narrative and social history. Campbell discusses the roots of Asian mythology, Buddhism and the path of enlightenment as viewed in the East and West, the journey into the afterlife and the power of yoga."

I found one of the Mythos videos online here.. http://vimeo.com/27134970..I'm sure you can find the rest.

Here's a quote from the video..

"Schopenhauer has a wonderful paper which he calls The Foundations of Morality (actually On the Basis of Morality). And that's the one where he asks: How is it that a human being can so participate in the danger of another, that forgetting his own self-protection, he moves spontaneously to the other's rescue? How come, when the first law of nature is self-preservation, that is dispelled?

And his answer is that this is a metaphysical impulse that is deeper than the experience of separateness. You realize you and the other are one."

I also found the Power of Myth here.. http://www.mevio.com/episode/92858/the-p...ph-cambell
