the Now

I momentarily stepped out of my mind and body, not visually but mentally. I laughed at my anxiety because it has no affect on me! It is a product of the mind and the body, but the mind and body are not me! I am infinity! My true identity took over and I felt so free. This happened about 10 minutes into the ride and for the rest of the ride I was kind of going back and forth between anxious mind identification and true Being.

That's seems to be identical with the observer i have described in different posts (many in the same thread).

Wow Pat that is so wonderful!
It is interesting because I also had "spiritual experiences" while travelling, once on a train and even on the subway .....
and like you described, it also came to me after a moment of anxiety (in my case it was bc I had not paid the ticket - warning - I do not recommend it, don't try it at home kids )
and then I was like what am I going to do when the conductor comes.... and then I relaxed and said "it is fine, I am going to pay the fine" and just let go...
and then a wonderful wave of love and light came down on me and said "in the absence of fear, love flows freely".
And I wasn't fined either, no one came and asked for my ticket
But still, nowadays I only ride with a ticket of course, haha
(might explain why I did not have any more spiritual insights on trains, though )

Hello everyone. I have recently began reading Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now. First of all, incredible read for anyone seeking guidance with dealing with the mind and its many illusions.

I wanted to make a thread for observations about the Now, as well as reminders to remain seeking the Now.

I have felt that as I am more mindful about being in the present, reality has seemed to be more fluid. Even hallucinatory at times. The physical world has always dissolved slightly for me when meditating; by this I mean that when my eyes are open a lot of times lines begin to blur, and if i remain empty enough everything can fade to black. This extent of concentration has only happened briefly. I'm finding more and more brilliance in things I have "seen" everyday but never truly felt. The more I begin to dissolve my ego, the more I am finding reality in the present to be more mysterious and expansive than ever before. Horizons have been blowing me away, a sky with large cumulus clouds is almost orgasmic.

I am still having trouble staying in this state for longer than a few minutes or seconds at a time.

Observations on this topic? Similar experiences?

Any good books come to mind on these topics?

Stories about the fluidity of our universe?

How have I missed this Thread? Was it not fate? Now, the moment, the eternal and endless moments in time, (and space)? I too have read that book, and it is a great treatise in understanding and living in the moment. The secret is, to be conscious in the present and not allowing yourself to drift in endless Mind and mindless chatter. When we are aware of our every action and even accountability for our actions. Remaining as the Observer and not the Participant. The Overseer. It is also useful to consider the Inner Stillness. When we find our Inner Stillness, the outside world is no longer important because it is no longer a threat to us. The threats are of our own creation. Be still, and be at peace.

Great thoughts. I think it is almost inevitable to get caught up in the chatter of the mind at some points. Some people never escape the chatter of their mind. Lately I have been able to notice when I get caught up in the chatter, and remind myself to look around, smell, listen to the now around me. This sort of ground state has helped me immensely to snap myself back into the now, to the observer's spot laughing at my little 'self'/ego getting caught up in trivial chatter. Important to laugh it off

Hi guys, I hope everyone is doing well. I've been struggling a little bit lately and I don't really have anywhere to go with it all so I thought I'd share some of it with you all. Along with the forums, my life has been undergoing some changes as of late. These changes have made me feel less at home with myself, my physical home has changed in the past 2 months, my job ended and I'm back in school. A lot of little details about my situation has changed and I'm having trouble adjusting to these new conditions. I guess thats pretty normal. I'm not able to consistently access bring4th because of some "DNS server error" that I will copy and paste into that thread about bugs on the forums.
This past summer was the first time I felt the creator. Ra's words cemented my faith in a way that felt like the loving embrace of a family member. I have been able to carry that loving embrace with me when I am able to find the present, but it has been especially difficult for me this past week or two to fully surrender and immerse myself in the now.
Writing this out makes me realize how much I am identifying with the past, and of the concept of "time." Writing about not being able to find the Now while talking about the past... no wonder you cant find the Now, silly ! Hahaha I love this place. I hope each of you finds the wonder and bliss in this crazy existence of ours. We cannot always hide it from ourselves, keep looking!
