Acknowledgement of 'Biases' - Plenum - 02-08-2014

I think it is a very empowering (and healthy!) thing to do to acknowledge that one has 'biases'.

if the ultimate avoidance of catalyst is to deny that it exists, then the ultimate avoidance of the self is to deny that we each have biases, some of them which may be distorted in various ways.

once we are able to 'acknowledge' that we have biases (and some of them not well aligned to 'unity' or 'love'), we can then begin to work on them, and adapt them, quite often in a way that suits our fancy. We can start to shape those biases in a conscious manner. And perhaps move some of the more 'unhealthy' or 'unhelpful' biases into a position that is better aligned with the sort of person we would like to be, or represent.

but before that can happen, one needs to be able to 'acknowledge' that those biases are present. And that can take some courage.

every child is not only born with a personality shell, which can best be seen in one's astrological chart, but also a 'harvest' of previous lifetimes. We may have the Veil which clouds and prevents concrete memories, but we are most certainly not a 'blank slate', and starting from Point Zero.

Quote:92.18 The mind/body/spirit complex which is an infant has one highly developed portion which may be best studied by viewing the Significators of Mind and Body. You notice we do not include the spirit. That portion of a mind/body/spirit complex is not reliably developed in each and every mind/body/spirit complex. Thusly the infant’s significant self, which is the harvest of biases of all previous incarnational experiences, offers to this infant biases with which to meet new experience.

Plenum can you explain the distinction you are making between personality shell and harvest of prior lifetimes?

well, my thinking is that the personality shell represents some of the more 'salient' biases with which we have chosen to work with. I gave the example of the personality shell being very heavily influenced by one's astrological chart, as, depending on which 'school' you subscribe to, one's chart has an almost deterministic quality to it; in that it concretises certain ways ('biases') of responding to situations ('energetic flows'). On the most basic of levels, an Aries has a differing baseline attitude towards life than does a Virgo, for example. Astrology is much much deeper than that, and so much more subtle, but that is a gross level example of a 'programmed mindset' if you will.

Biases also come from genetics, upbringing, cultural standards and that collective unconscious we resonate with. To a large extent, we borrow our biases, unconsciously adopting patterns of thought in a recognizable meme, for example. To me, this collection of biases is what is expressed by the personality shell.

I bring up the Green vMeme of Spiral Dynamics a lot here on these forums, because it's what most new-age thinkers are inclined to adopt based on their level of development at this time. The irony is that people within Green vMeme are utterly unaware of this unconscious condition of borrowing their almost scripted thought bias and instead still engaged in the drama involved in newly meeting their interior self and projecting that on others (for better or worse).
