Minimizing Radiation Effects - reeay - 11-15-2012 I have to travel to Japan soon, and I wanted to know if there are ways to minimize harmful radiation effects from exposure. Your advice/assistance would be greatly appreciated. RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - Avocado - 11-16-2012 I take turmeric daily and eat it in my food if I can. Before I fly I lace my body with the stuff. Among the myriad of other health benefits, I read that it heals radiation damage after it has been done but even better it protects your body from radiation damage while it is in you system. I believe there have been some studies done on this. I just googled turmeric + radiation and there is plenty of stuff to read about it. RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - Monica - 11-16-2012 Do the iodine test. Buy some cheap iodine and put a dab on your skin. If the yellow patch fades within 24 hours, you're deficient. Buy some good quality iodine (Nascent is supposedly the best) and use it until a patch stays for 24 hours. Turmeric has been shown to neutralize radiation. I have a source for the best quality, concentrated turmeric oil. Contact me by pm if interested. Also: Maca (be sure to get gelatinized) A seaweed product called Biofilam - developed to treat Chernobyl victims. Good luck! RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - Guardian - 11-16-2012 Green tea RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - reeay - 11-16-2012 Thank you Avocado, Monica, and Guardian. Wondering if turmeric will smell if applied to body lol sorry stupid question. This is awesome, thank you! RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - reeay - 11-17-2012 I was referring to Avocado's post Unless I'm mistaking the meaning of "lace my body"... Quote:Before I fly I lace my body with the stuff. RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - zenmaster - 11-18-2012 Radiation exposure from flying is minimal though and not of the same nature as the elements released from the plant. Seems hard to believe you use the same techniques for protection. RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - Ruth - 11-18-2012 rie - I tested = YES! It smells awful. RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - reeay - 11-18-2012 lol Ruth - oh how I love you so much!! <3 RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - reeay - 11-19-2012 Dosage chart for Radiation: http://xkcd.com/radiation/ Sleeping next to somebody 0.05Sv Eating a banana 0.1Sv Flight NY to LA: 40 Sv (that's a high estimate because a 6-8 hour flight to Japan is about 37Sv) Extra dose to Tokyo in weeks following Fukushima incident: 60 Sv Living in a stone, brick, or concrete building for a year 70Sv Mammogram 400Sv Calculating dose received on flight: http://www.sievert-system.org/WebMasters/en/evaluation.html RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - Plenum - 11-19-2012 chlorella RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - Avocado - 11-20-2012 lol lace my body refers to the inside of my body. I wouldn't put it on your skin unless you want to look like an oompa loompa! RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - reeay - 11-20-2012 lol that's what I kinda thought and smelly, too! RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - Cyan - 11-20-2012 You wanna minimize radiation effects. Dont get radiated. Avoid fissible materials and fission byproducts like, literally, the plague.. Ha, notice the dentistry joke. Oh the Dental Caviittyyyy!!!! (screamed like "oh the humaaanityy") No but really, its fun that people still try to protect themselves from radiation after we've had http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_weapons_testing over 2000 atmospheric nuclear tests. Ahhh radiation. The stuff that "recent studies show" is increasingly less dangerous while mysteriously, the cancer rates continue to climb and now between 1/4th and 1/3rd of the whole population can be expected to have cancer at some point. A bit too late to take radiation precautions against small doses honey, just hope we dont all glow in the dark in a few generations. Edit: you want to actually be Protected in any meaningful way? Entirely hermetically sealed environment for sustained intenral bioloops cleared of dangerous materials. Grow your own food in your own enclosed space with your own purified air with co2 in it water with your own filtered uranium removed water and then you may have some noticable cancer reducing probabilities. The "normal" background rate these days is redicilous compared to the "real" background rate as observed pre 1950-60 far as i know of. RE: Minimizing Radiation Effects - reeay - 11-20-2012 It would be funny walking around town in those radiation suits. Ask my family to tent their homes lol.... all the while looking like oompa loompas and smelling a bit . I'll only be there for couple of weeks. Main concern is over food. There is not an honest governing board that monitors food safety (didn't need one that much before but times have definitely changed). Food producers and merchants are not talking so much about the effects of radiation on their food (although most food I believe is imported from elsewhere). Considered becoming a breatharian for a moment... although, perhaps the lesson is not to overly be concerned about this maybe... |
