It's particularly interesting to me how both the dark and the light have an "addictive" sort of calling. Once merged or near the others, it is difficult to resist that directive/influence as you can see from this interview.

There was a place that sounded very interesting to move to, but they expect you to join their "belief" which is basically giving up a part of your life.
Yes, it is a cult. But, there are some that would trade off this type of life for following the custom only, without any belief in it. This went on with the Rajneesh in Oregon. I knew people that would join only for the open sex life.
If there is a worthy trade, some will do what they normally wont.
