LoO Documentary Trailer (Need Help) - Ecz - 03-04-2012

Hey everyone Smile

I posted a little while back about making a documentary on the Law of One. The project has since been relayed to Carla who is on board for an interview, so the only thing in the way of bringing this to fruition is myself. I wish to death I could drop everything in life and throw myself into this thing but alas, while reality may be an illusion - it is indeed a persistent one. (Paraphrasing Einstein)

I have a lot to learn as the Law of One goes, but while I work on elevating my understanding of the Ra material to a proficient level I've also been trying to get wheels turning that will set me up to dive right in once all of the pieces are in place. I plan on getting a kickstarter going, however I'm staying away from investors seeking a return as I don't intend to seek a profit from the film. So begins the endeavor of bolstering interest in the film to make resources more available and, in-turn, help me in producing a quality film.

So the next step is a trailer/teaser -- just a piece of content to paint a vague picture of what the finished product might resemble. I want to get your guys' thoughts on this. I have a very rough and unfinished piece put together for you to view here:

The main idea of this piece was to deal with the audience's "belief" barriers and essentially request they be put aside briefly. Not looking for critiques on this rough cut, it will be changed extensively (footage/music i dont have permission to use), just the idea it presents. I also want to incorporate a hook in the beginning - I think a quote from Ra would be great for this. My personal favorite so far is:

Quote:Let us re-examine this metaphor and multiply it into the longest poker game you can imagine, a lifetime. The cards are love, dislike, limitation, unhappiness, pleasure, etc. They are dealt and re-dealt and re-dealt continuously. You may, during this incarnation begin - and we stress begin - to know your cards. You may begin to find the love within you. You may begin to balance your pleasure, your limitations, etc. However, your only indication of other-selves' cards is to look into the eyes.

You cannot remember your hand, their hands, perhaps even the rules of this game. This game can only be won by those who lose their cards in the melting influence of love, can only be won by those who lay their pleasure, their limitations, their all upon the table face up and say inwardly: "All, all of you players, each other-self, whatever your hand, I love you." This is the game: to know, to accept, to forgive, to balance, and to open the self in love.

I'm very much open to your suggestions for alternatives.

The other aspect I want to incorporate is a brief summary of the process of this material's channeling. Leaving the trailer with a bit of a hanging ending on the note of, "In 1981 Carla began channeling information from a entity calling itself Ra, this is the story of that reception." -- or something to that effect, obviously more in-depth.

This way the film's subject is explicit and will hopefully leave people wanting more (in the form of a finished film). I appreciate any quote suggestions, continuity/direction suggestions, etc. I don't claim to be a film expert and can use all the help I can get.

Thank you very much Smile

Hi Ecz,

I really loved the images you chose, the energy of the trailer really drew me in...it felt very grounded, and yet full of possibilities. The little girl was so sweet, with her grandfather. Loved the lady- bug and Gaian close- ups. I really liked the groundedness that came across.

Good luck with your project!

I will think about it and post if any ideas come up for me....just a thought, everyone really enjoys homecoming and how uplifted they are during the gathering. It is a wonderful community experience, I think that anything you include that would highlight the idea of community and forming a social memory complex would be a good theme to address within the film. You could go to homecoming to gather material. And meet Carla and Jim and others.

I really like your rough cut! What I think will help this documentary reach the most people will be it's ability to ground itself in every day experience, as this trailer seems to imply it will.
