Something I build as part of my hobbies are pendulums. There are a wide spectrum of uses, including wave detection.

Pendulums are fun! However, in all honesty I find them to be quite useful for myself since I have always been primarily an internal worker, so it's actually less accurate for me to use a medium like a pendulum often.

Are you talking about divination? For that type of use it is only an amplifier. What are you amplifying? It is also possible to have a relationship with the deva.
Really, it is a tool only, and the usefulness of a tool is dependant on the hand that wields it. My range of effectiveness driving a nail through a board is not that great with my bare hands.

No, I don't really use it for anything, because I cannot think of anything to use it for, besides, as you say, speaking with its intelligence, but even then that's not something I commonly need to do.
That being largely due to the fact that I have other stones which I commune with more regularly.
