I just started reading the channelled materials from the very beginning so please forgive my ignorance.
In the first meeting on 1974.02.23, Hatonn said there would be major events on the surface in two years that would change the atomosphere, destroy lives and inspire more people to seek. What exactly were those changes???

There was a probability vortex at that time for nuclear war due to the cold war with the soviet union. As you keep reading there are multiple times when Hatonn has to go on assigment and Latwii takes their place for awhile. The early material is very fascinating and it elucidates some of the Ra material as well.

Hi there, memtyen, and welcome to the party here.
First, it's a general truism that groups of beings from other densities and planets are not at their best when using numbers nor when speaking about lengths of time, so you just have to give them some latitude in such matters.
Second, in this case, Hatton was having trouble the various channels that evening. Judging by the fact that so many sessions happened in a brief period, it's possible that this was recorded during a workshop session for new channels. In any event, it appears it took some time for things to settle in.
Third, after things did settle in a bit--following the passage you quoted--came this paragraph.
Quote:I will now continue. Shortly upon your planet there will be conditions which will alert all of the people to something. Many will not understand what has happened, but they will know that something has happened. It is a situation where the people of the planet will have their attention focused upon something that they will all be able to speak of in common. However, groups such as this one will be able to aid them by not fearing this phenomenon. There is no fear necessary.
My guess is that what's being referred to is planetary changes due to climate disruption, such as are now accelerating. The hope expressed is that, in the face of difficulty, people will help one another and even possibly see that enjoying this planetary experience is a means to learn deeper spiritual truths pertaining to one's larger self as spirit.
