The Series "Dark" and Messages of Unity - Daze - 11-09-2020

Dark is perhaps one of the most memorable and personally meaningful pieces of media I've had the opportunity to enjoy.  It begins with Jonas, a teenage boy dealing with his father's recent suicide, trying to find the missing brother of his friends who disappeared when they were fleeing from something they encountered in the forest.  Jonas finds himself stumbling through time trying to piece together a massively tangled web of relationships and cause-and-effect paradoxes that binds the town together.  There's a staggering amount of attention paid to the details of the characters and story along with how even minor events impact seemingly unrelated characters.  Keeping up with what's going on sometimes meant I had to pause and talk to myself about what I knew versus what I thought I knew.

The most fascinating part of the show is not the tangled web of strange relationships, however, it's the themes about the cycles of suffering, karma, sin, forgiveness, and the illusion of our own identities.  The show blends the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur with Christian mythology, Buddhism, Alchemy, and Hermeticism to create something incredibly reminiscent of the Law of One.  Despite its name and constant expounding upon themes of suffering and pain, I found the show to inspire something incredibly beautiful and illuminating.

This show has stuck in my mind long after I watched it and was somewhat of a stepping stone on returning back to my spirituality.  I'm curious if anyone else here has watched the show and what your thoughts are in regards to the themes of unity, paradox, acceptance, etc.

RE: The Series "Dark" and Messages of Unity - Infinite - 11-11-2020

Well, what can I say about the Dark? It's one of my favorites TV shows.

A lesson I learned from the story was the importance of the aspect of Love in the Self. When we talk about love, we automatically think of a feeling of wanting and doing good to someone. Extending to all others, love is a kind of cosmoethics that lead us to think about others before ourselves.

However, with Dark I realized something that, although already evident in itself, became clear in my mind: love is the center of Self and therefore, also of its actions. For that reason it is represented by the heart chakra that is at the center of our energetic body. And it's precisely the type of kundalini activity related to that chakra that determines the entity's polarity. An entity that is not "centered" on itself is not able to refine itself to other densities. Therefore, love is the guide of our actions. Since the end of Dark, I understood the importance of Love together with Wisdom and Power in what tends the magical personality.

There are other interesting concepts that resonate with LOO, such as spherical time, with the future being able to influence the past. Ra implies that the Higher Self is our future Self and helps us in some way to become himself. Therefore, time was never a line, but a circle. I strongly suggest reading three books by an author named Michael J. Roads. The books are "Talking With Nature", "Journey Into Nature" and "Journey Into Oneness". In these books he narrates his saga of his awakening. In the third book he describes an experience in which he assists his past self in a certain event (an event that was described in the book "Talking With Nature"). So they are fantastic books, among the best I have read about spirituality. His experiences are varied, from conversations with plants and animals to contact with intelligent infinity.

There are also other varied references in Dark such as karma, myth of eternal return, hermeticism, etc.

About technical questions, the performance of the actors and actresses is impeccable. They manage to pass all the emotional charge of the characters.

And what about the soundtrack? Perfect. This song touches me deeply:

It's really a true masterpiece. I strongly recommend.

Wow, I'm not sure how I missed out on that song and artist, but it touched me more than I can properly say.  Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Yeah, I feel that is expressed really well in the end.  I was reminded of Ra's description of the heart center being the springboard towards Intelligent Infinity in that final sequence where Adam & Eve / Jonas & Martha embrace each other in love and quickly hurtle towards dissolution entirely.  I've found that the phrase spoken between Jonas and Martha throughout the show, "We are a perfect match, never believe anything else" is a message of love, oneness, and truth.  Whenever either character becomes uncertain of this truth, whether they believe they are wrong or that they cannot be perfect for each other, they reject the fact that they are the same being and fall into the illusion of separation that gives way to so much pain and prevents them from coming to truly understand themselves.

The same is true for every single other character as well, of course.  But I am glad to see that the writers did not fall into the trap of creating some kind of scapegoat character or villain that could be blamed or labeled as "other".

The show as a whole has been a great reminder to see the Creator even when looking upon our adversaries, for we have responsibility in where we find ourselves.

For those who've watched the show, this lengthy but not nearly comprehensive post gives a Law of One interpretation.

RE: The Series "Dark" and Messages of Unity - Glow - 11-13-2020

WOW got tears in my eye reading some of this. Thanks.

I watched the first two seasons and loved it but I didn't get into the third. I will try again this weekend as I was watching a few other trippy shows so might just have not had the bandwidth.

It was a few years ago but I recall for me it drove home the lesson of blamelessness. Everything intertwined, no one uninfluenced, no one not beautiful before being wounded or twisted up by wounds of others. The compulsive unconscious behavior that causes wounds in others.

I will have to watch season 3 now and see where it gets me. I often rewatch shows and depending on what I am processing at the time I see that lesson in the show. I wonder where I am now and what I will see.

Thanks for bringing this up.

PS I love hearing others find spiritual teaching in TV shows.

West world to me was art, a teaching manual with what felt like inner teachings found in spiritual works.

I actually bough the dvds which I never do because I feel like there are so many layers to unravel.

Glow, not a tv show but a movie, have you watched the recent Hidden Lives from Terence Malik, and also his earlier movie The Thin Red Line, on war, but so interesting.

Apologies for the digression since this thread was about "Dark"..

RE: The Series "Dark" and Messages of Unity - Black Dragon - 11-14-2020

I watched all three seasons with my mom earlier this year. I was aware of the show since it came out but put off watching it for a while. It could at times be a little convoluted and challenging to follow, but that was also part of the fun. This was really the best, deepest, most interesting and worthwhile show I've watched in a long time, and makes my list of all time favorite shows and movies.

I loved the full 360 degree character development. All the things this show can teach about our shadow side is one of the main things that made an impression on me, but there was so much more going on, it's hard to even pick a place to begin with all the profound insight jam-packed in there.

Other than that, it was just damn entertaining. The acting was good, the music was good, the story was great, and it just had a way of holding the attention. 10/10 would highly recommend to anyone that hasn't seen it.

No, but will add it to my list. Thanks

I started Dark and the first few minutes had a very creepy feel to it so I stopped. I can't watch violence in any way, and I had a feeling something sinister was going to happen. Is it violent in any way? If not I will give it a second try.

A guy at work recommended a different movie to me and said there was no violence. Within minutes there was something sinister going on and blood not long after lol, just can't stomach it.

I wouldn't recommend it if you are sensitive to movie violence. There is a decent amount of violence(even some that's a bit graphic, like a kid getting his head bashed with a rock) and suicide.
