I saw a UFO - peelstreetguy - 08-09-2010

Yesterday I was camping at a friends cottage. We stayed up very late. At about 3:30 in the morning, as we were watching shooting stars and satelites, we noticed a very bright light in the sky. Not in space, but in the sky. It was there for over an hour. I tried to take pictures , but my camera started going crazy, changing settings multiple times by itself. It was weird. I could see the thing moving a little bit from time to Time. I managed to get a couple of pictures. It looks different in the pictures than it did in real life.

A tiny dot, without zoom. It was bright white in real life, and looked closer.

It looks like a missile to me*.

I'm assuming that in the 3rd pic, the line is caused by your camera. I had a lot of pix come out like that when I tried to take pix of the dragon I saw in the sky, under the full moon, near the stone circles in Scotland. The pix were all full of squiggly lines. Hubby said it had to do with film and shutter speed.

But it was clearly a bright light, closer than the stars, to produce that effect, since the stars obviously didn't look like that.

The 2nd pic looks interesting.

the above bad joke happened in an alternate universe. what you read was an illusion.

That's awesome! Pictures seemingly can never capture what your eye can see.

wow that's a long time for it to be there
did you get any feelings associated with it? wonder why it showed itself to you.
i had an experience of seeing a ufo buzzing a plane about 10 years ago, what was odd about it was it cropped up in conversation with a friend who lived about 40 miles away as the crow flies and he had been looking of his window and had seen a similar thing about 10 minutes or so later - can't remember exactly when. that was the bit of it that was interesting to me - that we'd both independently seen the same thing and that it had sparked an interesting conversation

Would love to hear a description of the dragon!

And yes, a long exposure (long shutter speed) will cause the trailing light effect.

Pete: did it move, pulse or flash?

RE: I saw a UFO - peelstreetguy - 08-09-2010

Hi guys, the trailing in the third pic effect is from my movement. The best shot is the second. I did see it move, but nothing extrordinary. It looked like it was banking from time to time and raising and lowering in altitude. It was far away, but extremly bright. Like a star super close and super bright. A bunch of other people with me saw it also.
I got the feeling it was man made.

I wish I could see a UFO. They seem insistant on not showing themselves at all in my neighborhood. Of course, you can barely tell there's stars in the sky at night here...just a big orange, smoggy glow most of the time. X__X

Congrats on seeing one, though.
