E-Group: The Men Who Stare At Goats - Debaser4STO - 05-05-2010

At first I was going to train more along the Way of the Peaceful Warrior, but I'd much rather be a Jedi-in-training. Tongue If only I could get my hands on one of those New Earth Army manuals..

This movie is a clear call to awaken all of those "force-sensitive" ones out there. "Now more than ever, we need the Jedi!" Love and one-ness with nature is present throughout the movie, his dialogue about the changing from particle to wave through a breathing exercise sounds plausible, esp. with the emotion (heh) Obi-wan had at the end, enabling him to run through the office wall. Getting bilocational after psychically projecting (astral projecting?) into a cloud and dissipating it. I think this movie is scattered with hints about unlocking the powers every awakened individual person can have, if disciplined and aware of the potential.

I'm afraid the whole not-eating-solid food-for a week thing is something all Jedi's must undergo though. Bah..small price to pay. BigSmile

Anybody else have any opinions?

I would rather let the gifts and surprises come as they may. Though they can be interesting and sometimes useful, I don't think that having powers is the focus of spiritual evolution, and seeking to obtain them can actually pose a rather large distraction. I think that many gifted individuals are led onto the STS path with promises of power, believing that they would use such powers to change the world for good, but ultimately missing the lessons of love and understanding that can be found in everyday life and therefore entering into such abilities with an unfocused mindset. An adept residing in mixed polarity is a rather tenuous thing, at least in my opinion.

Still, do I think that such abilities can be gained through various techniques? Absolutely. Meditation alone can unlock all sorts of metaphysical experiences, and in spite of my earlier comments I do not think that abilities that naturally develop through spiritual seeking need to be ignored. Some people are just born with them to begin with. It is only when all else is set aside to seek these abilities that I forsee a taxing ordeal for the seeker.

I've never really had the urge to try to kill a goat by staring at it. I fail to see how that ability would be useful to anyone on the STO path, but I was unable to tell if you were actually making reference to that part of the "experiment" that took place. Poor goats.

I guess I should watch that movie Smile
Not eating for a week? What's the goal? Because it's not as hard as it looks. But you got to get yourself the calories. Which isn't hard if you allow yourself to drink the right fluids.

Fasting can put the person into an altered state of awareness and clarity. I have fasted many, many times for anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks. It's much more difficult to do just water, and not advisable unless the person is able to stay home and relax the whole time. Most health practitioners (who are into fasting as a detox therapy) advise doing fresh juices and green powders during the fast, which accelerate the detox/healing. Either way, the 1st 3 days can be rough, but after that, hunger vanishes and is replaced by a high that is better than any plant-induced high (imho) because it's clean, pure and real.

Just sharing my experience, for what it's worth.

Ah haha, no I wasn't referring to the goat staring as a desirable power. I've done a lot of thinking about the mixing polarities, and I agree the mystical feeling of magic happening in the moment when it does is spectacular, but I'm refined in my service to others, and I believe training and focusing energy can help me in the future. While 2012 is a rebirth in consciousness, we don't know how ugly it's going to get up until that point. Change itself is accelerating...

Monica, it's great to hear about your personal experience with fasting. It gives me great hope to hear that after the 3rd day hunger sort of subsides and leaves a clean, uplifting efficiency in your body. (And that it's better than any plant-induced high Wink) I'll use fruit juices, for sure, though I'm not sure exactly what you mean by green powders.

Oh, and to anybody's interest, here's the link to the First Earth Battalion's Field Manual. Has some real interesting stuff in there.
