I just watched Castaway for the first time a couple weeks ago. I really enjoyed it! But yeah I know what you mean about feeling like you'd already seen it due to ads, spoofs, references, etc. over the years.

Not necessarily, but when an ending gives you a question mark for a face instead of one of many satisfying outcomes, it doesn't always work, imo. Birdman seemed like a really long set up for a pretty pathetic punch line.

Ratatouille. We have the blu-ray of it I think. My mom watched it for like the dozenth time.
She calls it 2D when it's actually 3D. You have to wear special glasses or it looks fuzzy.

I honestly really enjoyed Birdman... until the last 15 minutes. And then I was absolutely stunned at how it went totally off the rails and ended up at what I honestly think is one of the worst endings I've ever seen in an otherwise good film.
Personally, I've been on something of a classic noir kick lately. I discovered "Out of the Past," which I now agree is one of the best noirs made. Great central performances and a nicely twisty plot with one of the most unscrupulous femme fatales in the genre. On the other hand, I finally watched "The Postman Always Knocks Twice" and thought it was rather overrated aside from the cinematography and lighting.
("The Maltese Falcon" still remains my all-time fave, tho.

Rewatched Cloud Atlas last night. Such a long movie that should be two movies but it really put the interconnectivity of all into such a great perspective again.

I just watched "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" & it was like one big commercial...It was so bad that I almost quit watching it 30mins in but I decided I'd keep watching it to see how many more companies they would advertise.
The movie advertises: eHarmony, Papa John's, Cinnabon, Google, Life magazine, American Airlines, Iceland Bureau of Tourism, McDonald's, Instagram, Facebook, Jansport, iPhone/Apple, KFC, Conan/TBS, careerbuilder.com, Dell, Nabisco, Chase, Kodak, etc.
I felt like I was on The Truman Show when watching that movie.

I will always have a soft spot for Mr. Besson - he makes movies fun and does not seem to take himself too seriously.
If you enjoyed The Fifth Element or Inception then it may be for you.

Mad Max: Fury Road. I enjoyed the moral.
I wanted to check out the original Mad Max from 1979 once I got home so me and my roommate put it on netflix. I fell asleep halfway through watching it... the pacing is totally different. I think its pretty cool that one of the actors in it plays the main bad guy in the newest movie.

I'm a film buff. If you guys have Netflix try watching older movies..there's so much good stuff out there. I recently watched The Last Picture Show, considered a top film and it has become one of my favorites. Jeff Bridges, Cybill Shepherd, and Randy Quaid are all young actors in it. Just watched Rear Window by Hitchcock..another great classic.

yeah...I'm to the point where I've seen practically all of the old movies. Definitely lots of really good ones. Watching newer stuff now.
