-- "It is not within my power to change how an other behaves with me or in a given situation. What I can exercise control and will over is how I behave in any situation. I have power over only my behavior."

This is exactly the principle I have taught my children, indeed, any children I've had the opportunity to influence. It's a very deep realization.

Would also share the "platinum rule" which has become more of a sales tool, but flows a bit with the discussion you are having here.

I think I belong to the Relaters category. What about you, Ruth?
This looks like one great way for Time to reduce to the Now and for Space to reduce to the Here.

RE: The mysterious nature of time - Ruth - 07-09-2012

I believe that I am actually a balance of all the categories, perhaps with a bit more of the relater. I'm pretty adaptable, can take charge if necessary, I can be very organized and analytical, and although I am not at all controlling, I am a bit of an achiever - though on my own terms of my own goals.

I was thinking today that perhaps your Mother has set for you an example of loving your abuser. Perhaps I'm wrong, but that's what I get from what you have said here. I sincerely appreciate your open honesty, and your persistent presence here, Confused.

RE: The mysterious nature of time - Plenum - 07-09-2012

yeah, good luck with things Confused. How you relate to your mother affects how you relate to all feminine energies.

Very true, Ruth. My mother has indeed set the example of a person who can still love a most vile abuser. However, no one should allow oneself to be abused in the name of sacrifice and love. It finally ends counterproductive for all. I feel for my mother who ended up being treated and frightened badly by her own son.

I have displayed manic mood swings and deep frightening violent temper. May be probably bi-polar disorder type. However, she still serves her son with patience and hope, believing all will get well. A son who just refuses to grow up despite almost coming close to middle age. Though, I do not wish to wallow in self-pity and self-loathing in the form of excessive admittance of one's ways of errors, I do feel that this thread is serving as a ray of healing for me and helping me mend my ways. I am being provided with very honest feedback from valuable friends here and it is helping me consciously track myself and catch myself as I interact with my mother.

As Ra, study of love and light is at the heart of evolution and I think we are all doing that together well here! Smile Heart

NORMAN
Yes. We were given the greatest gift in
the history of mankind.
We were given this magic ball and it
says: "Imagine what you will and you can
have it", and we're so primitive, we have
so many fears that we carry with us, that
we manifest the worst in us rather than
the best in us....and that ain't gonna
change.

BETH
Maybe we still have it.

NORMAN
What?

BETH
The power.
(beat)
Maybe we still have the power to manifest
what we will.

NORMAN
If we do still have the power...
(off her look)
Then we have the power to forget. To
manifest a world in which we don't have
the power.

Good movie. Good script excerpt!

Being a Mom, I understand your Mom's patience and hope. And I share it with her on your behalf, Confused. Keep manifesting the best in yourself. You're doing great!

Quote:Kate: I wish there was a cookbook for life, you know? Recipes telling us exactly what to do. I know, I know, you're gonna say "How else will you learn, Kate."
Therapist: mm. No, actually I wasn't going to say that. You want to guess again?
Kate: No, no, go ahead.
Therapist: Well what I was going to say was, you know better than anyone, it's the recipes that you create yourself that are the best.

Another good one!

I rarely cook from a recipe. The down side to that is that I can rarely repeat an especially good creation. Each one is new and a bit different from the previous one.

I am sure your food nourishes the body as beautifully as your words nourish the universe of troubled individuals. You must be filling the cooked food with immense love after all, for your fortunate loved ones.
I would be so happy if my higher self said the following to me and I would know love. Probably I am being sentimental, mawkish and dependent - I agree. I am dependent on the universe to feel whole, to feel loved and to lose the fear of life that currently reigns in me, keeping me awake at nights. I am vulnerable. Yes.

Good quote there Confused. Yes, I too can feel vulnerable. I sometimes think of death more than life. And work sometimes gets to me.

Despite our sense of vulnerabilities, let us work towards focusing our will on the spirit of life and living in this world as loving successful men, GW.

Will you join your hands with mine in your vision and we can resolve to live purposefully, focusing on the good in heaven (macrocosm) and on earth (microcosm)? We deserve to have the best from hereon, I think. We suffered enough.

Confused - have you watched all these movies? I love to watch movies, and as you are showing here, can usually catch at least one little "gem" of universal truth. I think that's true of everyday life, too.

Meerie - I can relate to your relating.

And now - the effects of death and fear over time. I just found this article this morning, looking for gardening information. The article discusses the effects on the soil of killing various insects. Very interesting!

""If you look around you, in pretty much every spot something at some time has died — in one place a mouse, in another a grasshopper, in another a deer," he said. "Each one of those places is going to behave totally differently from a microbial point of view. What you are seeing is the legacy of all that has died there."

Think about that next time you step on a bug.""

This from the article you linked, Ruth --
Quote:"The models we use to determine decomposition rates just assume that the bacteria do their job at a constant rate that isn't dependent on these types of things," Schimel said. "But our understanding is still very primitive — and the bacteria don't read our textbooks."

Ha ha ha, I don't know exactly. I was a bit rushed for time to post, but had been thinking about "the mysterious nature of time" and light and dark, and light selves and shadow selves, and about how we are so focused here about time and the passing of time, and about accepting our shadow selves, and well, that's just the thought that went through my head.

I do, often, make myself laugh out loud!

And someone should tell Jack that we are already in the stars.

Smile It is very telling for me that an investigation into the nature of Time has lead the thread into delving into the Subconscious and the Shadow. Sometimes, I vision Space as the Light aspect, with Time being the mysterious dark aspect.

Is it not also ironic that some 95% of the Universe is said to consist of a mysterious dark matter, a number that is reflected in our brain utilization capabilities as well!

Moreover, Time may be an aspect of the Divine Feminine too. All these are something that is coming into my consideration, as we together journey in this thread.
