It automatically elicits guilt, which causes an unconscious response to be better by being submissive. The true saying is "do unto others as they want you to do unto them". Every successful salesperson knows this. Every successful salesperson also knows that selling themselves is paramount. Who are the most successful people if not the ones that sell themselves the best? And where can we find them? In Hollywood and Washington. Actors and Politicians. If you want to succeed, cause others to perceive you highly. RE: Metaphors for STO and STS - Diana - 02-25-2012 If you come from the place that all is one, or put another way, all things are equal, then you will automatically treat everything and everyone with the same respect and love you treat yourself. In my opinion, you can distort STO by sacrificing the self. That seems out of balance for many reasons, the least of which is that your body, your existence, is your gift. The first step, then, in either STS or STO would be to love and respect self. Then, recognizing that all is one, or that the power of self is the path, will be clearer. RE: Metaphors for STO and STS - 3DMonkey - 02-26-2012 So, metaphor absorb/radiate ... When we enter catalyst with STS mentality, is it the other that is STS-absorbing my energy? Or am I trying to absorb the other by thinking negative thoughts about them? I'm thinking it is the latter. If so, when I claim someone or something is STS, then, in reality, my negative thought about it is the STS nature of it. This would go for anything I deem STS. RE: Metaphors for STO and STS - Aureus - 03-02-2012 When an otherself opens up, the observer either feel empathy/compassion or oppurtunity for gain. RE: Metaphors for STO and STS - zodekai - 03-03-2012 Thought that Leo and Aquarius was a good metaphor Leo: Self Consciousness Aquarius: World Service (group consciousness) RE: Metaphors for STO and STS - Diana - 03-03-2012 (02-26-2012, 09:40 PM)3DMonkey Wrote: So, metaphor absorb/radiate ... So in this case, having no reaction to, opinion of, or involvement with (one could communicate for example but be detached) the STS individual would neutralize any exchange. That would be the STO action possible with an STS individual, perhaps. I think a neutral action would only be a neutral action. I'm not sure neutral is achievable when interaction takes place. When we enter catalyst with STS mentality, is it the other that is STS-absorbing my energy? Or am I trying to absorb the other by thinking negative thoughts about them? I think you're on to something here, 3DMonkey. You are right that the "rule" says to treat others as you want to be treated. However most of us fall into the trap of treating others as they have treated us, and use "the rule" as our justification. "Hey, he hit me first." The rule only really works if you look inward and ask yourself in any given situation, "how would I want to be treated if I were exhibiting this behavior/attitude, facing this challenge whatever." I like the saying about walking a mile in another's moccasins before criticizing. Or the Bible verse that says something about taking the beam out of your own eye so you can see more clearly how to remove the tiny splinter in someone else's eye. --------------------- As for charitable acts - while I agree they are not necessary for STO orientation/polarity - I have found them to be a wonderful education, and have learned to understand, by doing charitable acts, the power in the cycle of giving/receiving/giving. What is funny to me is when we use the beam ananology in the way you just described- by claiming the other has the beam. "you have a beam in your eye" "you think it's me because the beam is in your eye blocking your vision" "no, I see it clearly, and the beam is in your eye" "how could you know? The beam is in your eye" ... Another bible verse- ""The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. (Matthew 6:22 NASB)" ""The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! (Matthew 6:22, 23 NASB)" "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? (Luke 6:41 NASB)" RE: Metaphors for STO and STS - Tenet Nosce - 03-07-2012 (02-24-2012, 02:12 PM)ShinAr Wrote: Do NOT do unto others that which you would not want done to you. 16.18 Wrote:Questioner: It would be wholly unlike an entity fully aware of the knowledge of the Law of One to ever say “Thou shalt not.” Is this correct? As difficult as it may be to turn the meaning of this quote into its opposite, I am somehow confident that a valiant attempt will be made. Likely something about how Ra was just being "polite" but secretly wants us to tell others what NOT to do... It is now it becomes important to "know thyself", as opening the self to another self must be done without hesitation. Ra on best way to be of service to others: Ra Wrote:The best way of service to others is the constant attempt to seek to share the love of the Creator as it is known to the inner self. This involves self knowledge and the ability to open the self to the other-self without hesitation. Oops - I didn't mean you, as in you 3DMonkey. I meant you as in me, Ruth. In other words, if/when I feel like someone else isn't seeing things properly, or behaving properly, I'd best head to the mirror and figure out why I can't see. Or at least try to remove my own feeling/distortions and see things as they see them, or "walk a mile in their moccasins." Usually if I do this, I find the Creator's love can shine through again. Sorry for not being clear. No I came up with it Thank you! Regarding the knowledge of self, it is very important. I sometimes have difficulties expressing myself to other-selves directly in person. However, I do have the intention to expand my reach, as well as the knowledge that in reality All is Well. Finding that inner knowingness in combination with pure intention, is in my opinion a very appropriate way to make progress! Much love ^^ RE: Metaphors for STO and STS - zenmaster - 03-09-2012 "From sacred religious texts to books to movies, light and darkness have always symbolized good and evil. But is it possible that abstract concepts such as good and evil can actually influence our perception of light and darkness in the environment around us?" http://www.news.ku.edu/2012/march/8/bright.shtml RE: Metaphors for STO and STS - Shin'Ar - 03-09-2012 (03-09-2012, 08:32 AM)zenmaster Wrote: "From sacred religious texts to books to movies, light and darkness have always symbolized good and evil. There is much taken out of context from many sources that are inaccurate and that have had extraordinary affects on our social structures. That doesn't mean that there is not a correct perception of light and darkness. It simply points out the need for a strong discerning nature and caution. As a matter of fact I think the fact that good and evil has always been divided as light and darkness points to the fact that there is some ancient truth to be found there, but it needs to be uncovered with a fine tooth comb, rather than scooped up by the shovel load with all the rest of the bullcrap. |
